Monday

30 for 30 • Day 28

Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Top: UO
Belt: Kohl's
Jeans: Nine West
Shoes: Chinese Laundry

In my other life, I think I would have been a street racer.  I love driving fast and competing (well, competing and winning).  Plus, fast cars are just plain awesome!

Well yesterday, I went kart racing with a group of my friends.  If you've never tried it, it is an experience to be had.  Too Fun!  And I am not talkin' about the little putt-putt cars you find at places that have mini golf and bumper boats....I'm talkin' about real karts.  These are the ones nascar tots in training start off in.  They go up to 45mph so it is like a license to try everything you would like to do in a real car, but without the danger of an accident (or worse, a ticket).

I think I am still coming down from my racing high...did I mention I had the best lap time in the group?!?  Yeah, I'm cool like that.  Good times, good times.

30 for 30 • Day 27

Sweater: Old Navy
Shirt: AE
Belt: Marshalls
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

Excitement is building....I can shop in 3 days!  Spring fashions, here I come!  Hope you all had an awesome weekend!

30 for 30 • Day 26

Sorry, peeps.  No pic today.  Here is what I was wearing....

Sweater: Gap
Top: NY&Co.
Jeans: Nine West
Shoes: Chinese Laundry

Friday

30 for 30 • Day 25

Sweater: AE
Turtleneck: JCrew
Tee: CRusse
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

Feeling much more optimistic about the challenge today.  I am looking forward to the weekend which is probably why.  It might just be the orange (my color of the moment), but I am liking this outfit.  Surprisingly, I hadn't paired the sweater and the turtleneck together yet in the remix, but here it is, in all is glory.  Only 5 more to go, WooHoo!  Happy Friday!

Thursday

30 for 30 • Day 24

Vest: Marshalls
Sweater: Gap
Tee: H&M
Jeans: Nine West
Boots: Target

I officially "dislike" this outfit.  My creative juices are at their wits end and I need to do laundry, so options are dwindling.  One thing is for certain, I will choose my clothes differently for the next challenge.  Being this is my first time, I really just grabbed the pieces I loved for their individual qualities, and not necessarily for their remixable qualities.  I think that has been my downfall.  I hope to pull something great out at least once or twice before the end of the challenge, but idk beyond that.  (Geez, I sound like a negative nancy, don't I?  Sorry for the rant.)

To help me get through the last days of this challenge, I have been working on a classic, yet very remixable closet (pretty much the wardrobe I wish I had).  And it's on the cheap!  I am very excited about it and hope to snag a some of the items after the 30 for 30 is over.  Perhaps, then the next challenge may be smooth sailing.....perhaps.

Wednesday

30 for 30 • Day 23

Sweater: Old Navy
Cardi: Ann Taylor
Tee: CRusse
Skirt: Target
Shoes: Converse

Is it just me, or does it seem like I am looking up my own skirt?!?  Happy Wednesday!

Tuesday

30 for 30 • Day 22

Military Shirt: H&M
Top: Old Navy
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

This outfit pretty much fell together this morning, mainly because it was clean and had coordinating colors.  I like the end result even though I would not have thought to put these two tops together.  The yellow floral makes me excited for spring but the army green toughens it up a bit.

Now, you may have noticed that I am constantly changing my hairstyle.  I always change it either around midday or when the frizz gets outta hand.  So, for fun, I thought I would share my hair progression for today.  Enjoy!

Monday

30 for 30 • Day 21

Sweater: Gap
Shirt: JCrew
Scarf: (gift from a friend)
Jeans: Nine West
Shoes: Chinese Laundry

Thank goodness for this scarf...it pulls it all together.  I haven't worn it since it was given to me, but it was just what this outfit needed.  Hooray for gifts!

To tell you the truth, I have been struggling with the remix the last couple of days.  I am ready to explore the rest of my closet again...and add to it.  The good thing is that when it comes time to shop (9 days, but who's counting), I have a new outlook on what to buy and what not to.  I am learning not to waste my time on clothes (1) I am not in love with and (2) only fit me so-so.  With these two rules in mind, spring shopping should be more productive and budget friendly.

I am already starting to plan for my spring fashion overhaul.  Are you stalking any items in particular?  If so, do share!  :)

30 for 30 • Day 20

Vest: Marshalls
Plaid: Target
TShirt: CRusse
Jeans: AE
Boots: Target

I think I will have to pick up another pair of the sexy bootcut Gap jeans (seen here) after the challenge (and yes, sexy bootcut is the actual style name).  I always feel good in them and they seem to work with my body type.  Plus I feel my legs look twice as long, which is always a good thing!  :)

That said, I think these AE flare ones I am wearing here do quite the opposite.  I don't see it in the mirror but when I look at the remix pics, they just look blah, sloppy even.  Life is just too short for unflattering fashion.  So many lessons to be learned during this challenge, I tell ya, so many lessons to be learned.

30 for 30 • Day 19

Sweater: Old Navy
Top: JCrew
Belt: Target
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

I know y'all are probably tired of this sweater by now... I know I am.  The problem is...it's warm, and snugly, and when it is chilly outside, it is the first thing I grab.  Can't help it....I like being warm, and snugly.  Don't you?!?  As this is my first 30 for 30 challenge, I am learning as I go.  So note to self, have at least two chunky sweaters for the next winter remix or else you will get bored and so will your followers.  Note taken.

Friday

Style Me Like....Olivia Palermo for Tibi

I love all the looks that Olivia Palermo choose for her Tibi photo shoot, but this one just seemed so classic and accessible. Recreate it for less than $135.

Delia's, Fossil, Forever 21, Coldwater Creek

Chambray Shirt – $14.99
Denim Trousers – $26.99
Shoulder Bag – $55
Sunglasses – $10.50
Wedges – $26.80

30 for 30 • Day 18

Cardigan: Ann Taylor
Top: Anthro
Belt: CRusse
Jeans: AE
Shoes: Converse

Okay, so I had to do a swap.  Originally, I included a black sequins tank in my 30 for 30, but I really couldn't think of more than one way to wear it and not freeze to death.  Since I haven't used it yet (and it is already Day 19), I decided to swap it out for this red cardi.  Although I really wanted to try and mix the sequins into my casual outfits, I think that will have to wait until next season's challenge.  A tank alone is just too cold for winter.  That said, I now have big plans for the cardi, so expect to see it a least couple more times before the end of the challenge.

Also, thanks to all my new peeps and your great comments!  I really enjoy the feedback and the commentary.  It makes all the time and effort worthwhile.  :)  Happy Friday!

Thursday

30 for 30 • Day 17

Jacket: Gap
Sweater: Gap
Belt: CRusse
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

Let me start by telling you a little story........

Once upon a time there was a girl whose hair was fairly long.  After years of long hair, she had grown bored with it and wanted to make a change.  So, she decided to get a new, fabou cut at a fancy salon she had never tried before.  Naively, she sat down with no real idea of what she wanted, and so proceeded to allow the hairdresser have free reign.  Well, an hour went by with her back to the mirror, then suddenly she was spun around and "Poof!" (literally, POOF!)...she had a curly mullet.  Complete and utter horror filled her, but she did what she could to mask her disappoinment.  She kept hoping things would improve at home once she figured out how to style it, but there was no better to be had.  Headbands and ponytail holders became her go-to hairdo tools and she went on for months regretting her hair adventure.  The End.

The moral of the story is ....1) Never trust a new-to-you stylist to make you look good and 2) When you have a head full of short layers, all you can do is wait.

So, I chopped 3-4 inches off my hair yesterday and let me just say it was o-ver-due.  After almost a year of waiting, things are starting to look better, maybe even decent.  There IS a light at the end of the tunnel....Now, all i got to figure out is what hairstyle do I want when I get there?!?

Wednesday

30 for 30 • Day 16

Sweater: Old Navy
Shirt: JCrew
Scarf: Marshalls
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

Orange and plum...Never really thought of combining it before the 30 for 30 but now that I have, its love.  And with coral being a hot color for spring/summer, I will be on the look out for some new additions to my wardrobe.  I can't wait to shop!

And what's with the pipe, you ask?!?  Well, something about the scarf and the sweater combo reminds me of a pipe smoking, stuffy ol' fuddy-duddy (think Thurston Howell III on Gilligan's Island).  So as a tribute to my odd TV reference, I thought I would have a little fun with Photoshop.  I think I make a good Millionaire, don't you?!?  ;)

Tuesday

30 for 30 • Day 15

Sweater: AE
Henley: Old Navy
Tee: Marshalls
Jeans: AE
Shoes: Converse
Cap: Nike

WooHoo!  The Big 15!  I'm halfway there!

This challenge has put a shining light on the lack of variety in my closet.  With my casual style, I find it hard to find good accessories to add oomph to my outfits.  I don't wear jewelry, so I usually only pick things like scarfs and maybe hats.  I plan on getting some nice summer scarves after the 30 for 30 is over, but what else?  Do you guys have any good ideas?  I would love some suggestions!
