OOTD • Watercolor Warmth

Top: Charlotte Russe
Cami: Kohl's - Elle
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Marshalls

Boy, it has really warmed up here in SoCal.  Yesterday, I wore a long sleeve shirt and by noon was sweating something awful (seriously, it was gross.)  I wanted to take an OOTD pic but it just wasn't happening at that point.  So today, I came prepared.

I picked this top up at CRusse a few weeks ago for my Hawaii trip.  (Did I mention that I went to The Big Island?!?  Good times, good times!)  Anyway, I normally don't pay full price for anything, but if I try something on, love it, walk away from it and am still thinking it days later...I normally break down.  It is a way for me to figure out if I really wanted the item to begin with...and such was the case with this top.  I don't know about you but I am happy I went back.

Sorry, I HAD to take a little hiatus...

Well, either the 30 for 30 burned me out or I have just gotten really lazy.  Either way, my posts have been next to nil since the close of the Remix challenge. But I want you know, I plan to be back starting later this week, so don't go away just yet.  I have something kinda cool I am working on that I hope to share y'all with so stay tuned.

Happy Monday!

OOTD • Sk8er Casual

Top: Marshalls (similar)
Belt: Thrifted (similar)
Jeans: Old Navy (similar)
Sneaks: Converse

Happy Friday!  Sorry for the grainy pics, but I took the shots early in the morning (hence the bags under my eyes) and the light was not cooperating.

Today, I kinda feel like a skater kid that never learned to skateboard.  I was going to go the complete opposite direction today and wear a skirt, blouse, la-dee-dah...but I just wasn't in the mood.  Crossed legs and locked knees just didn't sound like something I wanted to deal with, especially since my desk is open on the bottom.  (Note: That is why I don't where skirts too often.)  So, today you get young, fun, "Sk8er Casual" girl.  Who says that we can relive our youth?!?

OOTD • freedom is bliss

Chambray shirt: Marshalls (similar)
Belt: Charlotte Russe (similar)
Trouser jeans: Old Navy (similar)(similar)
Clogs: Target (similar)(similar)

Freedom, sweet freedom.  It was sooooo nice getting dressed this morning.  I had been wanting to try the chambray shirt and trouser jean combo since I saw it on Olivia Palermo.  Now that the remix is over, I could finally give it a go and I was quite pleased with the result. Of course, I don't know if I like it because it actually looks good or because of the fresh clothes, but whatever it's workin'.

Thanks to the 30 for 30, I have a completely new outlook on my style.  The challenge was hard, and even annoying at times, but I am glad I stuck it out.  It has taught me so much about myself and where I want to go with my personal style.

Here is a summary of the wardrobe lessons learned along the way:
  1. Dressing fashionably doesn't have to uncomfortable.
  2. If I don't love something, I won't wear it.
  3. Layering (even light layers) build a more interesting outfit.
  4. I don't always have to coordinate.
  5. Jeans do, eventually, get boring.
  6. Pops of color are great, but only if you have a good neutral base.
  7. I need to invest in better accessories.
  8. If something doesn't flatter my body, no matter how cute it is, don't buy it.
  9. I have too many cardigans, jeans, tees....
  10. Everyday is a new day to look stylish!

30 for 30 • Day 30

Sweater: AE
Tees: CRusse/Marshalls
Belt: CRusse
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Target

Say goodbye to the 30 for 30 challenge!  I'm dun'!  WooHoo!  For a minute there, I didn't think I was going to make it.  I want to write a little rehash of the whole experience, but not right now.  I am exhausted (which you might be able to tell for my last pic).  Kicking the workout routine up to 5 days and eating less is draining me of energy.  I am hoping for a second wind soon.  Otherwise, something is going to give.  (And I hope it is not my waistline!)

Anyway, look for a fresh OOTD tomorrow with my remix recap!

30 for 30 • Day 29

Blazer: Mervyns
Shirt: JCrew
Jeans: AE
Shoes: Chinese Laundry

The finish line is in sight.....One more day.  It is so close I can almost taste it!  I may have to get a few carts filled and ready to go tonight as the anticipation is overwhelming.  Ok, I just realized that I may have a problem.

Step 1. Admit you have an addiction

"Hi, my name is designgirl and I am a shopaholic."

30 days with no shopping has been quite the struggle!  I have wanted to cheat on more than one occasion.  What can I say?  I just cannot pass up a good deal.  Its a sickness.  I was hoping I would be able to kick the habit by taking the challenge, but alas, the shopping withdrawals are too powerful.  MUSSS-T--QUITTT---BUT--CANNN-NOT!

All you out there nearing the end of the's it going for you?
