Thursday

Dun' for a while...

Hi Friends,

As you may have guessed, I have taken an extended hiatus from blogging.  There are a few reasons, but the main one is (which is kinda lame, but very important) my office tinted the windows and rearranged the furniture.  Why does that matter, you say?  Well, I have to take pics at work most of the time and now it is too dark and too cluttered to find a place to shoot.  Plus, I "self-shoot" with my phone which makes things even more complicated.  I still want to keep up the outfit shots, but need to figure out a doable daily method of picture taking.

I hope to be back in the future but for now...I'm Dun'!

Spring 2012 Color Trends • Sweet Lilac

Pantone — the authority when it comes to color — has released the color trends for this spring.  Here is another post in the series highlighting each of these new spring colors.

To be honest...I probably will not buy anything is this color.  It is a little too pale toned for my liking.  I tend to gravitate towards the bolder, more saturated colors.  However, it is in the spring color lineup so I am including it for all y'all who aren't afraid of a little soft pink/purple in their wardrobe.

Here are a few Sweet Lilac picks...all less than $100.  Click on any of the items to purchase.

Spring 2012 Color Trends • Sodalite Blue

Pantone — the authority when it comes to color — has released the color trends for this spring.  Here is another post in the series highlighting each of these new spring colors.

Sodalite Blue is basically a dark cobalt or bright navy.  It can be used as a neutral tone with the season's bright colors or used with neutrals as the pop of color.  Try it as an alternative to basic black to help get out of the winter style rut.

Wednesday

Cowboy Tuxedo? Uh, no.

Jacket :: Gap 2008
Cardigan ::
Banana Republic Fall 2011
Top :: Express 2010
Pants ::
Old Navy Jan 2012
Shoes :: Madden Girl via Ross 2011

Here is another bathroom shot for the book.  I am not a fan of the lighting in the bathroom, but I did want to shoot this outfit (since it DID NOT include jeans).

I always get excited when I don't wear jeans because it means I can wear my denim jacket, which I love.  Why do get to wear my jacket when I don't wear jeans, you ask?  Well, see, I don't do the "cowboy tuxedo" thing...

Jean Jacket + Jeans = Cowboy Tuxedo

There is such a thing as too much denim, trust me...I've checked.  I'm not saying that it can be done, but it's not for the faint of heart.  There is a fine line between being a fashion "do" and a fashion "don't" and I am sure that I would fall in the latter category every time.  So I will continue to browse the JCrew catalog and pin those clever denim outfits, complete with sequins tops and flirty hair, but will stay away from recreating...well, at least until I am 6 feet tall, 100 pounds and styled by JCrew.

Monday

Spring 2012 Color Trends • Solar Power

Pantone — the authority when it comes to color — has released the color trends for this spring.  Here is another post in the series highlighting each of these new spring colors.

Solar Power, another bright for the upcoming season, is one of those yellows that may be hard for some to where.  For those who like the color but don't think it will work with their skin tone, try a pant or skirt.  That will allow you to choose a more flattering color to be placed nearest your face.  And if you are one of the lucky ones that find this yellow to be complementary, go all out with a dress or top and matching accessories.  Go bold or go home, right?!?

Here are a few of my Solar Power picks...all less than $100.  Click on any of the items to purchase.
